Get To Know BES-X

In the summer of 2024, Bowling Depot launched HD 2.0 featuring the state of the art BES-X automatic scoring system. When you bowl with us - not only are you supporting local - you have the chance to customize your lane your way.

What can you expect?

• 50-inch scoreboards: The new system presents your scores in vivid color on new 50-inch screens.
• A new interactive keyboard: These unique keyboards will actually highlight the keys that can be used given the current state of your game. When the lane is not activated, the keys will be all off. These keyboards won't beep when a key is pressed, but a valid key will blink off and on when pressed.
• A mix of the previous Bowland X animations plus numerous new animations: You will find that the animations will play at a slightly quicker pace and will quickly disappear at the end. A score correction or sale activation in the middle of the play of an animation won't automatically end the animation. You will also find that both lanes on a married pair can play animations simultaneously. On open frames - an animation after the second ball will count how many physical pins were knocked over.
• A faster performing network: The new system runs more efficient and communications with the front desk are significantly quicker - making for more efficient customer service.
• A more friendly end-of-game situation: Compared to the movement of a direction bar on the old system, the end-of-game directions fade on and off the screen. This allows you to take a clear picture of your scoreboard at the end of your game. You can also still ask for printouts.
• Better League and Tournament Experience: This yields more detailed league standings as well as live game-by-game scoring of tournaments in the cloud. Splits are now noted by a white number in a red circle while red numbers indicate foul-marked' deliveries. Both splits and fouls were red in color on Bowland X.
• Other changes: Pogo Pin is now Lucky Train. This feature can be used as a door prize draw option where our computer selects a winner. The presentation of the winner is animated across the lanes selected with the target lane and bowler identifed at that lane.

• Unique child and family-friendly scoreboard looks and feels: Add a new level of family fun with themed scoreboards:
  • Oceano: Take your family bowling under the sea. Oceano features Qupee as a scuba diver along with a shark, crab, sea horses, seaweeds, and other neat under-the-sea creatures. Watch out for the gutter ball - you may get a life saver ring.
  • Prehistorica: Go into the stone age with this neat set including a live volcano in the background. Watch Qupee as an explorer along with a dinosaur bird, snakes, worms and other creatures.
  • Fairy Tales: Go into the wonder world of make believe with this neat animation set. Characters include a wizard, a wolf, a dragon, a frog and more. The backdrop for this score skin includes a castle, moat, scarecrow, water wheel, science lab and the witch's brew.
  • Bubble Gum: Experience the best of the original Qubica/AMF animiations on this very colorful scoreboard.
• Also available:
  • Classic: Like Bubble Gum, this features the best of the original Qubica/AMF animations on an animated score grid that fills new frames as they are played.
  • Sport: Use this configuration for sport teams, windups and other athletes.
  • Birthday configuration: Best for youth birthday parties, this animation set features balloons, trains and a rabbit as the stars. The grid isn't really a grid, but each frame is labeled by a balloon. This configuration is standard for youth full party plans.

The BES-X Signature Grid: This is the ultimate way to make a scoreboard the way you want and to customize your event. How does this work? BES-X has several graphic layers as follows

• The scoreboard: The scoreboard is your actual score grid, covering all 10 frames. You can fit up to 6 bowlers comfortably on this grid and see a quality scoreboard covering everyone without scrolling. We recommend no more than six on a lane for space and fire capacity requirements; however the system can present a condensed scoreboard for 8-12 players. The scoreboard can be presented with more than one dozen combinations to highlight the current player.
• The background: The background can be a solid color or any valid JPEG image in a 1280x760 resolution. This allows for scoreboards that can only be limited by your imaginations.
• Match a background solid color to a player highlight color and make a scoreboard that matches the colors of your team, school, church, club or company.
• Let us integrate your logo and/or products into an background for you. See your logo shine on our score screens.
• We have a "Happy Birthday" background - salute a grown-up birthday without all the balloons and trains and toys.
• Bowl like you are in a destination - think of a picture of your favorite spot like the mountains, the beach, or a golf course.
• Place your favorite photo as a background - such as the happy couple about to get married or a baby as in a baby shower (arrangements and reservations must be made in advance; photos must be classified as suitable for work and family).
