10 Reasons why You should bowl in a league.

  1. For the fitness: One game of bowling can consume from 110 to 160 calories. It also helps in your balance, coordination, flexibility, and muscular endurance. Bowling can be part of a complete exercise regimen.
  2. It is a community: The league is a community of friends who are out for laughs, fun and excitement.
  3. It is for everyone: Anyone can fit into the league, including singles, couples, families, company groups, or any other combination of people you can think of. Even children can fit in on our Saturday youth leagues.
  4. You can track your progress: When you are in league, we track your scores in league for you. Watch your game grow as each week of play proceeds.
  5. Anyone, including you, can be a winner: Most of our leagues play on a handicap system. A team of bowlers that average lower scores are given additional pins as an advantage against a team with a higher average. This puts the empathsis on the team performing to their average. And yes, the young can beat the experienced. In what other sport can a team like "Betty's Flower Shop" wallop a team like "Mike's Mufflers".
  6. Tournament opportunities: Take your game to the next level by participating in our house tournaments that lead to Bowl Alberta provincials. Most of our tournaments operate on a handicap basis, pins over average basis, or average flight basis. You can earn the right to represent our center at a provincial or national finals where glory, medals and cash prizes are up for grabs.
  7. The end banquet: At the end of the season (usually mid April), the league windup is a blast. Enjoy a wonderful meal and share in the season ending prizes.
  8. A good value: When you add in the cost of banquet funds, lineage, and maybe some 50/50 tickets, the cost of bowling league is very similar to that of open bowling (1). You can also choose to use the house equipment or opt to invest in your equipment. Two matched five pin balls and shoes can run from $150 to $300.
  9. No more waiting for lanes: We reserve the lanes for your league when your league bowls. The league doesn't have to wait for lanes and face the frustrations in Calgary's tight and crowded open bowling market.
  10. There is still room: Contrary to popular belief, most of our leagues have vacancies. And it's not too late to join. Adult evening leagues run from Sunday to Thurdays with practice starting at 6:30 PM.
(1) Costs vary by league. Some leagues may have an upfront registration fee. For comparison purposes, referencing Sunday night - weekly fee is $17.25 including prize fund, lineage and GST. This league bowls three games. Three games of open bowling at regular price is $18.50 plus GST. These prices do not include shoe rental and optionals such as 50/50 tickets, food and drink.
